Yamtuan Tuanku Jaafar Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman of Negeri Sembilan passed away peacefully today at the age of 86, at Seremban General Hospital at 11.45am of 27th December, 2008. May his soul find eternal peace. He was the son of the first Paramount Ruler of Malaysia Tuanku Abdul Rahman, appointed the 10th Yang Di Pertuan Bsar of Negri Sembilan on April 18th, 1967 upon the death of his half-brother Tunku Munawir. A graduate of Malay College Kuala Kangsar.
Upon his death, the new ruler will be chosen from the four princes. The titles of these four princes are: Tunku Muda Serting currently held by Tunku Imran, Tunku Laxamana Seri Menanti currently held by Tunku Naquiyiddin, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Seri Menanti currently held by Tunku Mukhriz, the son of the late Tunku Munawir a half-brother of the late Tunku Jaafar, and Tunku Besar Seri Menanti was held by the late Tunku Abdullah the brother of Tunku Jaafar. (note: the title, if I am not mistaken is now being held the youngest son of Tunku Jaafar, Tunku Nadzaruddin.)
The prerogative to elect or to choose the Yang Di Pertuan Besar rests on the four chieftains of Undang Sungai Ujung, Undang Luak Rembau, the Undang of Luak Jelebu and Undang of Luak Johol. The four Undangs or are those from the direct lienage of the Orang Asli blood and they are not of a Minangkabau descent.

There is a bit factual error in your article. Tunku Mukhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir had always been the Tengku Besar Seri Menanti(the most senior of the Putera Yang Empat) . The other 3 Puteras being Tunku Laxamana Tunku Naquiyuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja'afar, Tunku Muda Serting Tunku Imran Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja'afar dan Tengku Panglima Besar Tunku Nazaruddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja'afar who replaced the late Tunku Abdullah Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman. However, the prerogative lies with the 4 Undangs who shall choose one from the 4 eligible princes to be appointed the new Yang Di Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. May the Undangs make a wise decision without any undue influence and outside interference in appointing the new Yang Di Pertuan Besar .
The monarchy of Negeri Sembilan is one of the most fascinating monarchy system in the world.
