EC: Govt can call snap polls
Ruling party can do so if sees a need for a fresh mandate.
The Star: A federal or state government can be dissolved at any time, even before three months, if ruling party sees a need for a fresh mandate, said EC Deputy Chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Omar.
He added that there was also no provision in the Federal Constitution to prevent the current government from dissolving Parliaments or state assemblies.
In this event, he said a snap election could be called.
He was responding to questions on the uncertain 'political scenario' following allegations of possible party hopping by BN members to Pakatan Rakyat.
p/s: Frankly speaking, I prefer snap election even to the effect that the end result our brother, Anwar Ibrahim will be our new PM. That approach is much-much more gentlemen.
